We’ll help you succeed

BDO’s Tax Accounting Group is a newly formed national group bringing together tax professionals who specialise in tax accounting and tax audit work.  Headed by a specialist equity partner, we can offer an exciting and quality career path for ambitious people.

This role will involve taking day to day responsibility for the Tax Accounting Group outside of London.  Working with the lead partner to build up the Midlands hub you will be at the forefront of developing this specialism on a national basis.  As such it provides a unique opportunity for the right individual to influence and direct this area, with all of the associated career opportunities.

The Tax Accounting Group provides tax audit support on our largest, high-profile audits across a range of clients and sectors.  In addition, we act as tax accounting specialists to our non-audit clients, assisting with complex provisioning engagements and the tax accounting aspects of GAAP conversions, carve out accounting and acquisition accounting.  Clients include FTSE companies, AIM listed companies, large inbounds and private equity backed businesses.

Your role will be to take primary responsibility for a number of our largest audits, directing a team beneath you, reporting to the lead partner, and building relationships with senior audit partners and clients.  You will also work on a number of ad hoc, project based engagements working with other BDO teams, using your tax accounting knowledge in different contexts to deliver the best to our clients.

You will drive the development and maintenance of best practice materials and a consistent approach to this work, designing and delivering training to both the tax and audit practices, and building key relationships with providers of work.

When you join us, we’ll make your growth our priority. If you can demonstrate the following skills, we can help you go far. We’re looking for someone with:

  • Extensive prior experience of tax accounting and tax auditing.
  • In depth knowledge of tax accounting under FRS102, IFRS and US GAAP.
  • General corporate tax experience providing corporate tax advisory and compliance services to a variety of clients.
  • Project management skills, including managing your own portfolio of engagements.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Experience of coaching and training more junior staff.
  • Experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Educated to degree level, and CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent
