Role Overview:

The Corporate Tax hub is about to embark on an exciting journey, to further evolve our service delivery offering to our internal clients. Therefore, we are looking to recruit an associate, forming part of the Corporate Tax team who provide national Corporate Tax compliance services. As part of the growing Liverpool Corporate Tax team, you will be actively supporting the client facing teams of your dedicated stream as well as embarking on a promising career path within BDO.

The Role:

This will be a challenging yet rewarding role and your day-to-day duties will involve:

  • Reviewing Corporation Tax returns prepared by junior members of the team on behalf of local office teams.
  • Working with systems such as AlphaTax, Global Portal, Excel, ServiceNow and more.
  • Liaising with our client facing teams, acting as representative of the SSC and advisor to the stream on areas within our expertise.
  • Having an active involvement in regular process improvement activities and offering innovative solutions to ensure best practice is always being followed.
  • Regularly reviewing knowledge gaps and areas for development within the team and proactively addressing these through coaching and training sessions.
  • Ensuring the team are constantly up to date with changes in tax legislation, affecting our services.
  • Participating in quality control procedures.
  • Actively supporting the operational hub lead implementing new initiatives, driving performance, and providing an exceptional service delivery.
  • Acting as point of contact for junior members of the team, supporting them with queries and acting as a link in the escalation chain for technical matters.

Technical requirements and professional skills:

  • Qualified AAT/ATT or, part qualified in chartered accountancy or tax qualification, or QBE.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in participating in coaching and training activities is highly desirable.  
  • Excellent time management, organisational skills and able to prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, experience with AlphaTax is advantageous.
