We’ll broaden your horizons

As a fast-growing ER function, we are looking for an experienced ER Adviser to join our team on a 6 month FTC.

Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager. This role will support and provide expert ER advice, tools and guidance to generalist, other HRD teams and business areas, enabling high quality ER service and guidance to the business on all ER issues, people policies and formal processes.

The HR team are responsible for around 6,500 people and the ER team are instrumental in the support provided to enable the delivery of expert ER/HR advice across the business.

In this role you’ll also:

  • Support the ER team on Case management including attendance, support, note taking for formal ER meetings such as probation, exam fail, flexible working and performance appeals alongside Disciplinary, Grievance, investigations, capability and other relevant ER processes
  • Provide ER guidance to the HR Generalist team where required on areas such as probation, investigations, disciplinary, grievance, capability, maternity, paternity, flexible working requests, exam and escalating to Manager/ Assistant Manager where appropriate.
  • Responsibility for undertaking Occupational Health referrals, workstation assessment referrals and providing overall process guidance to HR team
  • Establish strong relationships with overall HR team as a credible point of contact for ER matters where required
  • Pragmatic interpretation and application of ER policies, processes and provide timely advice on employee relations issues, escalating to Assistant Manager, Manager where appropriate
  • Support the ER Associate Advisor in the management of the ER inbox where required and be a point of escalation for the Associate Advisor on ER queries and processes
  • Production of good quality documentation including investigation packs,  formal invite and outcome letters and reports where required
  • Support in the creation of ER MI, reviewing and analysing ER trends and hotspots where appropriate
  • Supporting the ER Manager with Data Subject Access Requests, coordinating and collating materials and liaising with other business areas as necessary.

  • Experience of working in an employee relations and policy focused role, including extensive knowledge of employment law and proficient in application of business aligned solutions;
  • Experience of independently managing ER cases, with demonstrated behaviours and approach.

Essential

  • Previous HR/ER experience
  • Good basic knowledge of employment legislation and external best practice trends;
  • Understanding of how ER matters impact commercial operations and vice versa;
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven experience of managing conflicting priorities alongside interacting with various stakeholders;

Preferred

  • Previous ER experience within a relevant environment
  • Experience of writing reports and recommendation papers to senior stakeholders.
  • CIPD qualified
