You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

Technology is one of the fundamental components to how BDO operates and conducts business.  The Business Relationship Management (BRM) team proactively serves as a “trusted advisor and plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the Business and IT Department.

The BRM should successfully act as a bridge between the IT service function and the customer base to ensure that IT services are understood and adopted, and equally as important that new opportunities and challenges are understood and engaged back into the IT function. They partner with the customer base to define opportunities and identify and aid prioritisation based on predefined criteria (e.g., return on investment, productivity, compliance).  They translate business needs into strategic roadmaps and proactively advise on technology options and innovation. Then help the IT function to understand the business fit and ensure the IT priorities and work is aligned to business priorities.

In this role you will support the Senior IT Relationship Manager and also involve working closely with the Head of Innovation & Digital and the Innovation and Digital Product teams who are responsible for helping understand the business problems and offer innovative IT solutions.

You'll also:

  • Manage the relationship between IT and the business units, including the support functions such as HR, Finance, Marketing and Facilities. Maintaining open lines of communication with all parties from both a service delivery as well as BRM perspective.
  • Serve as liaison with the IT department for the business unit to help them navigate the IT function.
  • Act as a point of escalation for service delivery issues and act as an engagement function for proactive IT Support
  • Together with the Innovation and Digital function, help the BRM team manage business unit ideas and new products, including activity on the ideation platform and helping with innovation and new product development within the business unit(s).
  • Understand the business needs and pressures and help to educate the rest of the IT function at all levels from IT Board to IT Management team and below.
  • Continually research the market place to understand what our competitors are doing in the space of innovation and digital products.
  • Become an active participant on the BDO social platforms, becoming one of the known faces of IT and Digital to grow their network across the business.
  • Work productively and positively with IT and key vendors to ensure the relevant solutions, changes or services are put in place.

You’ll be someone with:

  • Experience of working in professional services organisation, preferably partnerships. 
  • Demonstrate experience/understanding of the IT industry; notable areas including Project management and business analysis.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of current business problems and external pressures articulating how IT can help.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal including active listening.
  • Ability to identify and analyse alternative approaches to dealing with issues and problems.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the firm’s values.
  • Ability to empower others by collaborating on joint ideas and encourages others to view change as a positive process.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others outside his/her direct control.
  • Ability to identify and analyse alternative approaches to dealing with issues and problems.
  • Demonstrate confidence in dealing with all levels of the firm, including executive management levels.
  • Excellent customer service and consulting skills.
  • Demonstrable skills in influencing and negotiation methods and techniques.
