Senior Internal Communications Exec

Ideas | People | Trust

We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy - and directly advise the owners and management teams that lead them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Communications and Corporate Affairs team strives to be a gold-standard team, enabling purpose-led conversations, true to our character. Reporting directly to the Leadership Team, the team advises the firm on external and internal communications programmes. This includes a communications programme for our Managing Partner, strategic announcements, PR campaigns and internal communications campaigns to drive behaviour change. Because we know that great ideas can come from anywhere, you can be sure you’ll be heard and have the chance to make a real impact. You'll be supported to build your career, but also to be yourself in the office. You’ll be rewarded with a great work-life balance and a career with real purpose.

We’ll help you succeed

Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with them and building long-lasting relationships.

We’re looking for a Senior Internal Communications Executive to join our firmwide Internal Communications team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-connected, award-winning team that’s respected across the business for delivering impactful, engaging communications.

You’ll have the opportunity to plan, create and deliver firmwide communications and campaigns that inform, engage and inspire our people. You’ll also help develop and improve the channels, tools and processes that support how we communicate across the firm.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who enjoys writing and coordinating activity, but also wants to broaden their experience by working on firmwide initiatives and building relationships at all levels. You’ll report to the Head of Internal Communications and play an important role in how we communicate as a firm.

Planning and coordination

  • Lead the management of the firmwide Internal Communications News Planner and content scheduling, ensuring it’s aligned to business priorities and is up-to-date.
  • Support the forward planning of key campaigns, announcements and events, ensuring consistency and connection across the firm.
  • Coordinate team and stakeholder inputs, approvals and timelines to ensure firmwide communications are accurate, timely and on brand.
  • Develop and refine internal communications processes and ways of working to enable smooth delivery of content across channels.

Content and channels

  • Write, edit and publish engaging, audience-focused content for a range of channels and audiences.
  • Manage the production of our flagship firmwide newsletters, ensuring stories reflect our priorities and culture.
  • Regularly schedule and publish firmwide updates across our digital channels – including the intranet, Viva Engage, and digital signage.
  • Generate ideas to evolve and improve our internal channels, helping to ensure they remain relevant, effective and easy to use.

Campaigns and projects

  • And manage the planning, coordination and delivery of firmwide campaigns that build understanding of our strategy, purpose and culture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Communications & Corporate Affairs to align messaging and maximise reach.
  • Gather feedback, insights and metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and inform future activity.

Measurement and reporting

  • Develop and maintain regular reporting and dashboards on communication reach, engagement and impact.
  • Use insights to identify opportunities for improvement and share recommendations with the team.

Stakeholder and team collaboration

  • Work closely with the Head of Internal Communications to support delivery of firmwide communications.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues across business streams and functions to understand needs, priorities and opportunities for connection.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for internal communications advice and guidance.
  • Proactively identify and coordinate team award submissions.
  • Be an ambassador for the Internal Communications team, championing best practice and collaboration across the firm.

Skills and attributes

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Curious and proactive, with a commitment to learning and exploring new (particularly digital) communication opportunities.
  • Passionate about effective and creative communications and delivering a high-quality service.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading ability.
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys working with a variety of teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates initiative, regularly contributing ideas to improve communications and processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, even when managing a high volume of work.
  • Reliable, accountable and trusted to “get things done.”
  • Role models the firm’s values and approach to teamwork.
  • Committed to ongoing learning and curious to develop new or existing skills or learn about new (digital) channel opportunities.
