You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

This Senior Manager role is a senior learning and development role working across the business to lead the design and delivery our firmwide core skills offering

The role will design and deliver a structured system of tailored learning to develop our people as rounded business professionals with the skills, behaviours and mindset to deliver high quality work to our clients and audited entities now and in the future and to develop future leaders.  To align our learning offering to business priorities and to our purpose: to support our people to succeed.

In this role you’ll:

  • Be responsible for the design and delivery of our new core professional skills offering from Early in Careers (EiC) to Director.  A focus on leadership development.
  • Work with the broader learning team to design a core learning offering that is aligned across all populations to build our learning culture for our 8,000 people across our 18 offices in the UK.  To ensure coherence and to build and accelerate development.
  • Create a holistic core learning offering that is aligned to our broader People Strategy, to include Talent Management, ESG, Wellbeing and EDI.
  • Design learning solutions based on best practice design to engage our learners and to support and embed learning on the job. 
  • Ensure our core learning offering is clearly communicated and understood, that it is championed by senior leaders and builds our learning culture. 
  • Monitor and measure the impact and effectiveness of our learning programmes.  Report on outcomes and return on investment.
  • Lead and coach 5 direct Manager level reports. 
  • Manage programme budgets.

You'll be someone with:

  • Proven experience in a senior learning and development role, preferably in a professional service business or a similar regulated environment.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, and the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Expert knowledge and expertise in learning and development methodologies and tools.  Proven experience of learning technologies and the use of data.
  • Creative and innovative mindset, the ability to design and deliver engaging and impactful learning and development solutions.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, to understand how best to align our offering to meet business ambitions.
  • Strong collaboration and project management skills, to ensure a creative design process across a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, to engage with different audiences across the business.
  • Qualification in instructional design, education, coaching, psychology/behavioural science preferred.
