Use AI but keep it you

AI tools like ChatGPT or CV-writing assistants can be a useful part of your job search. They can help you structure your ideas, proofread your application and practise for interviews.
When applying for an Early Careers opportunity at BDO, we’re happy for you to use AI to help you prepare. What you submit still needs to reflect your own experience, how you think and work, and how you communicate.

What's OK, and what isn't

Do use AI to:
  • Improve the formatting or clarity of your CV
  • Research BDO or our assessments
  • Practise interview questions and answers
Don’t use AI to:
  • Submit AI-generated content without reviewing and personalising it
  • Generate responses during assessments or video interviews
  • Misrepresent your skills, qualifications or identity

Using AI at each stage

You don’t need to use AI when applying, but if you choose to, here’s where it might help.
Application – AI can help refine wording, check clarity or structure your CV. Just make sure everything reflects your own experience.
Online assessments – AI can help you prepare or practise beforehand, but assessments must be completed without AI assistance.
Video interviews – AI can help you practise questions or research BDO, but your interview responses should be your own.
The golden rule? AI can support your preparation, but it’s your skills and ideas we want to see.

Keeping it fair

Our goal is to understand you and what you can do. While we use AI at BDO to support our people and how they work, we don’t use it to make hiring decisions.
We may use detection tools in certain parts of the process to help keep things fair. If we believe AI has been used to gain an unfair advantage, you may be disqualified from the application process.
If you’re unsure whether using AI is appropriate at any stage, ask us.
