When I first joined BDO, I felt anxious discussing PRIDE network plans with other members in an open plan office. This stemmed from a fear of being overheard and judged. However, as I became more involved in the network, I expressed my individuality and discovered a community of colleagues eager to learn from my experiences and support me as allies.

The PRIDE Network at BDO has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. It provided me with resources and opportunities to connect with other LGBTQ+ colleagues, even within my own hub. This sense of community and support has been crucial in helping me build confidence and feel more comfortable in my role. The network's encouragement led me to host a bake sale, and I now proudly serve on the committee, thanks to the unwavering support from my colleagues.

For me, authenticity means being able to bring my true self to the workplace. As someone who identifies as a type A, anxious individual, I find that being genuine and confident in my identity allows me to be more productive and perform well in my audit role. While I maintain a professional-authentic approach at work, I acknowledge the importance of balancing personal and professional traits to create a harmonious work environment.
