Born in Melbourne, Australia, to parents who emigrated from Odessa, Ukraine, Sasha's life has been shaped by her family's experiences and the kindness of strangers.

Sasha's story begins with her family's challenging journey from Ukraine to Australia. Her parents, facing discrimination in the Soviet Union travelled through Austria with many other refugees to Italy, eventually receiving visas to Australia. Arriving with no English and just two suitcases, they rebuilt their lives with hard work and the help of generous strangers. This experience instilled in Sasha a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to helping others.
Today, she is actively involved in initiatives which directly support Ukrainian youth affected by the ongoing conflict. Through her charity Trustee role, she hosts these children in the UK, providing them with a variety of experiences, aimed at helping educate them, and allow them to learn new skills and knowledge whilst away from Ukraine. The children visit institutions like Google and University College London, and enjoy trips to the Houses of Parliament and cricket lessons at Lord's. Sasha's efforts offer these children hope and a glimpse of the opportunities beyond the conflict they may have experienced at home.

I really do believe that those of us who are able to help, have the responsibility to do so.

Balancing her role at BDO with her charitable work is not a simple task. Sasha's schedule is packed with responsibility; meetings, commercial decisions and the demands of leading a team. However, BDO's flexibility allows her to manage her time effectively. That can be anything from utilising her citizenship days to adjusting her schedule around her family. Whatever it is, Sasha finds the support she needs to integrate the values she learned at an early age into her daily life.
Sasha believes that those who can help have a responsibility to do so. Throughout the challenges of recent years, including COVID and the invasion of Ukraine, she has witnessed a remarkable spirit of generosity and willingness to contribute to society, ultimately helping others succeed. For Sasha, it's not just about the benefit of a good work-life balance; it's about integrating her values into everything she does. She has spoken about her gratitude in being part of a community that makes a difference and offers an outlet for goodwill.
Sasha's story is a formidable example of resilience, community, and the impact of giving back. Her work with Ukrainian future leaders and her role at BDO demonstrates how personal values can be seamlessly integrated into professional life. Sasha's commitment to helping others and her ability to balance her responsibilities at BDO with her charitable initiatives embody the spirit of what our Unifying Culture is all about. She truly is an inspiration to all, showing that with support and determination, we can make a meaningful difference in the world.
