You’llbe someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners. The Marketing and Sales Operations Director is a senior-level role responsible for developing and implementing effective processes to support the Market, Sales, & Clients community to function effectively and ensure the efficient use of marketing technology, data analytics, CMS insight and processes. This role is crucial for driving operational excellence within MSC, ensuring alignment with BDO firm-wide objectives, and leading teams of delivery professionals. 

The Director will collaborate with Central Operations departments, including IT, Finance, and the Data Office teams, to ensure the people experience, and the function’s processes are appropriately aligned to other teams, across business development and marketing services. They will also oversee the skills development programme across MSC working with other members of the MSC leadership team

In this challenging and rewarding role you’ll also:

Strategy & Vision:

  • Define and implement a comprehensive operations vision and strategy supporting MSC’s overall strategy, to drive intelligent decision-making through precise data analysis.

  • Oversee the entire client journey operations roadmap, including evaluation, selection, implementation, and customisation of technology to meet functional needs.

Budget & Financial Management:

  • Be responsible for the overall MSC budget including managing and administering the marketing budget, ensuring proper cost tracking and accountability. Oversight of non-stewarded spend/budget as it relates to MSC related activities executed outside MSC.

  • Work with the MSC leadership team to maintain the MSC headcount model and oversee future changes based on business demand.

  • Partner with analytics teams to report on marketing and other performance metrics, including customer lifetime value and acquisition cost, and provide insights for data-driven strategy.

Data Analysis & Performance:

  • Take the lead to build the necessary infrastructure to allow tracking and reporting of key MSC metrics such as client engagement, conversion rates, and value, with segmentation by sector, stream, geography, and buyers.
  • Collaborate with other members of the MSC leadership team to leverage engagement data for more effective marketing strategies.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing operations team by providing coaching (skills development), and filling talent gaps where needed.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures, and processes are clearly defined, documented, and adhered to, promoting operational efficiency and data accuracy across MSC.

Technology Management:

  • Own the MSC technology stack, ensuring it is maintained, optimised, and customised for users, working closely with the MSC leadership team and other Central Operations functions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and improve systems and processes, avoiding unnecessary complexity and customisation.

Project & Campaign Coordination:

  • Line management of specific teams aligned to Marketing and Sales Operations. 
  • Work with the MSC leadership team to coordinate the execution of firmwide business development and marketing activities.

Stakeholder & Vendor Relationship Management:

  • Regularly engage stakeholders across MSC, streams, PMDs, and external vendors to align on marketing performance and strategies.
  • Manage external partnerships, where necessary, and negotiate contracts with vendors to optimise marketing resources.

Risk, People & Compliance Management:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks.
  • Work with the HR function and MSC leadership to ensure performance management issues are appropriately addresses across MSC in a consistent and timely manner.

You’ll be someone with:

  • Proven experience in marketing operations, with demonstrable experience in a senior management role.

  • Experience in technology-led solutions as they relate to marketing and business development activities.

  • Strong analytical, organisational, and project management skills.

  • Proven track record of managing large budgets and driving data-driven marketing decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with enterprise software, SaaS, and knowledge of GDPR and related regulations is a plus.

  • Strategic and analytical mindset with attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership presence with experience managing and developing high-performance teams.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and marketing analytics tools.

  • Ability to manage relationships with external partners and vendors.
