BDO’s Business Restructuring team supports companies, lenders, investors and other stakeholders through periods of financial challenge, change and uncertainty. We combine financial analysis, commercial insight and restructuring expertise to help clients understand their position, protect value and make clear, informed decisions. Our work covers turnaround, refinancing, Independent Business Reviews, short-term cash flow and options reviews, contingency planning, Special Situations M&A and formal insolvency appointments.

Our Manchester Business Restructuring team is an established and ambitious team working across the North West and nationally. You’ll join a collaborative group with experience across advisory, turnaround, accelerated M&A and insolvency assignments, working directly with senior colleagues and a wide range of clients and stakeholders. The team offers varied and often high-profile work, early responsibility and genuine opportunities to lead projects, develop junior colleagues, build market relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Role Requirements

As a Business Restructuring Senior Manager, you’ll take day-to-day responsibility for a broad range of assignments and lead defined workstreams on larger or more complex projects. You’ll manage client and stakeholder relationships, direct and develop junior colleagues and take ownership of project planning, financial management, quality and delivery. You’ll also play an active role in business development by building market relationships, identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals, pitches and wider team initiatives.

This role is responsible to a designated director or partner on specific cases and ultimately to a dedicated counselling manager. The role requires strong financial analysis skills with the successful candidate able to identify and investigate key issues in a restructuring scenario, challenging information provided where appropriate. Excellent excel skills and an ability to undertake accurate and relevant analysis and interrogate financial models are essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing draft Independent Business Reviews, associate restructuring reports and other written or analytical output for review and therefore the ability to produce high quality documents/ presentations that are capable of meeting stakeholder expectation is also required.

You’ll be someone with:

  • Hold a relevant professional qualification (ICAEW/ ACCA), with an appropriate amount of experience
  • An insolvency qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • Up to date understanding of regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and IPS
  • Excellent written and numerical skills
  • Good organisational skills to manage your time and ensure no tasks are overlooked
  • Have a willingness to learn new things and thrive on new challenges
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic team player
  • Confidently manage a range of
