Audit Learning & Development – Learning & Development Projects Assistant (12-month maternity cover)

Ideas | People | Trust

We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy – and directly advise the owners and management teams leading them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Learning and Development (L&D) is a key enabler of our strategy as an Audit Stream and critical to our success. It supports our ability to attract, develop and retain talented people who take pride in their work and successfully deliver for our business. Effective L&D underpins quality and productivity by supporting our people to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work, helping them reach their personal and professional potential.

Effective L&D does not happen by chance. It requires specialist resources who partner with the Audit Stream to identify training needs and appropriately respond to them. Careful planning and project management are necessary, as are a critical-thinking and commercial mindset, and an understanding of regulatory requirements. Effective L&D needs consideration of the latest innovation, tools and technology to support development of leading personal and professional development that is tailored, relevant and timely for our people.

We’ll help you succeed

The work we do is underpinned by quality. We deliver audits which are trusted and transparent which can be relied upon by companies and their stakeholders.

You’ll be someone who is comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with Senior Managers, Directors, and BDO’s Partners. You’ll help deliver accurate and transparent reporting to all relevant stakeholders as you provide long term value.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the coordination of learning logistics as need to support the Learning & Faculty Coordinators and Senior Learning & Development
  • Communicate with the wider Learning Team on matters that require their attention
  • Communicate with the Stream as needed on learning matters (projects or business as unusual)
  • Develop your own knowledge of L&D policies and processes and identify opportunities to share best practice
  • Work with the wider Learning Team on projects and provide support across any aspect of the learning cycle as required
  • Support managing the L&D Central Inbox and field out queries / actions as appropriate, supported by the Learning & Development Projects Assistant Manager and the Ops Manager (as needed)
  • Provide on-site support for courses as needed
  • Support necessary reporting on target audiences and completions to the Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance team as appropriate
  • Provide administrative support to learning evaluation as directed by the relevant team
  • Collaborate across the function and with wider people teams to ensure that L&D activity is aligned and to share best practice

Required skills and experience

  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong relationship skills with an ability to work with varied stakeholders, influence agendas and drive forward activities
  • Understanding of business strategy and goals and a focus on delivering effectively against these
  • Focus on operational excellence and quality

You’ll be able to be yourself; we’ll recognise and value you for who you are and celebrate and reward your contributions to our business. We’re committed to agile working, and we offer everyone the opportunity to work in ways that suit them, their teams, and the task at hand.
