You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

The purpose of this role will be to support the UK Technology & Media (T&M) team to shape, drive and implement business development and marketing activity. This sector is of strategic importance to BDO as it is one of the largest sector by size.

You will be expected to become a brand ambassador for BDO, with an inherent focus on helping us to differentiate the firm within the marketplace. You will also be expected to report clearly on ROI on all of their marketing and business development activity.

The role is London based but occasionally there may be a need to travel to other offices across the UK as it is a national role.

You’ll also:

  • Work with the Head of T&M and sector leadership team to develop and deliver the sector go to market strategy to support the sector’s growth plans
  • Project manage and deliver events and thought leadership campaigns
  • Lead and develop the strategy plans for the six subsector groups
  • Maintain, optimise and promote content on the Tech content hub, plugd:in
  • Ensure national issues-based and solutions-led campaigns are followed up with local sector-focused partners and directors
  • Be a champion and advocate for the deployment of digital marketing channels and its seamless integration into the management of campaigns and champion the use of the CRM system and actively manage data quality
  • Act as an advisor to the Head of Sector and wider partner team in advising on what core activity should be supported within agreed budgets, balancing output with ROI.
  • Manage and monitor the sales pipeline, ensuring a strong pipeline of activity and momentum, supporting the team with recording all activity on the CRM system
  • Implement our Client Listening Programmes, report progress and make recommendations to improve client service
  • Provide ad-hoc pitch support, working with the central bids team and conducting bid debriefs to improve on our bid performance
  • Support the T&M team to drive and develop the firm’s key account management and subsector targeting programmes, taking responsibility for updating key account and pursuit plans
  • Be proactive in bringing market trends and ideas to the business to help open doors to new work and qualify in new leads where opportunities are identified.
  • Work with the Sector’s Senior PR Manager to develop relationships with trade journalists and prepare content for press releases. Where appropriate, manage external PR agency relationships.

You’ll be someone with:

  • A strong Marketing and Business Development skill set – and is commercial in approach
  • An ability to persuade, influence and challenge client-facing teams (including partners) in a constructive manner and identify appropriate solutions
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to be flexible, prioritise and reprioritise workload and to delegate where necessary
  • The ability to integrate at a high level with their peer group, developing strong relationships with key contacts across the firm
  • Lateral thinking skills – can identify linkages and key themes and connects well.  Prepared to think differently about approaches to delivery
  • A professional qualification or demonstrable commitment to ongoing learning
