Our Partnership Office is a vital department. As well as supporting senior management in strategy, operations and decision making in the UK, this highly-experienced team make a big impact on significant projects and processes across our international network. A role in this team comes with a lot of responsibility and variety too. You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

The purpose of this role is to drive the development and execution of the firm’s strategy and act as a guardian of our strategic framework. You will be instrumental in ensuring we create an environment that can balance entrepreneurial behaviours that fuel business growth alongside the necessary alignment expected in a regulated business.

This role is based in the Partnership Office. This team provides high quality strategic, advisory, technical and administrative support to the principal governance bodies of BDO. In particular, the Senior Strategy Manager will provide strategic advice and support to the Leadership Team who are responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic framework.

The advice and support required will extend from time to time into tactics and operational areas where these underpin strategic objectives.

We are just about to refresh our current strategic framework in conjunction with a new Managing Partner and Leadership Team taking the reins on 1 October 2024, so you will be joining at an exciting time for the firm and will have the opportunity to shape and influence the relaunch.

Beyond supporting the refresh and relaunch of the strategic framework, principal responsibilities and areas of focus will be:

• Ongoing strategic framework development
• Driving engagement with the strategic framework across the firm *
• Production of relevant and accessible collateral to support the strategic framework
• Contribution to the Leadership Team’s approach to strategic planning
• Monitoring progress on strategy execution, working with Streams and Operations teams as required
• Monitoring and reporting of firmwide KPIs and success metrics
• Facilitating Leadership Team sessions on horizon scanning and scenario planning
• External research
• Leadership Team communications and engagement support, working collaboratively with the firm’s Communications team 
• Ad hoc strategic project delivery and support

You’ll be someone with:

• Extensive professional service firm and market knowledge
• A strategy/leadership related degree or alternatively extensive experience in the field of strategy and strategic thinking
• Ability to turn complexity into simple, explainable models that meets the needs of the audience
• A dexterous influencer, able to adapt style to effect desired outcomes without losing goodwill 
• Highly organised with an attention to detail
• Discreet with a strong appreciation of the confidential nature of work within the Partnership Office environment
• Curiosity 
• Network building skills
• Gravitas and credibility with senior stakeholders
• A forward thinker
• A desire to experiment and innovate, reacting quickly to outcomes whether positive or not
