SSC Business Administration Assistant

Ideas | People | Trust

We’re BDO. An accountancy and business advisory firm, providing the advice and solutions entrepreneurial organisations need to navigate today’s changing world.

We work with the companies that are Britain’s economic engine – ambitious, entrepreneurially-spirited and high‑growth businesses that fuel the economy – and directly advise the owners and management teams leading them.

We’ll broaden your horizons

Our Shared Service Centre team (SSC) provides essential support to a number of teams across our firm. As well as assisting on large-scale operations, beyond the capacity of a core specialist team, they provide the unparalleled expertise we need to keep moving forward. As part of this friendly department, you’ll have the chance to work on exciting projects and develop your skillset. There’s real opportunity, making it a great chance to use industry knowledge and experience to solve problems in your next career step, or it can be a place to learn if you’re just starting out. If you want to work on important projects and explore your potential, we’ll give you the friendly, supportive working environment to go far.

We’ll help you succeed

Leading organisations trust us because of the quality of our advice. That quality grows from a thorough understanding of their business, and that understanding comes from working closely with them and building long-lasting relationships.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

Joining BDO’s Award Winning Shared Service Centre (SSC) as an Assistant now means being part of an exciting period of growth and change in one of our key business units. We work across every part of BDO, specialising in services that impact every client and help create real value by doing them efficiently and effectively.

Every day, you’ll work with people who will help you build the skills you need to develop your career within business administration. Alongside training, you’ll have the opportunity to progress within the Shared Service Centre where career development, people and culture are a key focus.

After a comprehensive induction and welcome to BDO you will follow with 12-weeks office-based training in a friendly, collaborative environment. You will be fully supported by managers and team members in helping you to succeed. Flexible working after initial induction and training period is an option.

After successful completion of your probationary period, you may be eligible to apply for fully or part funded professional qualifications on either an apprenticeship or an enhanced supported learning programme.

Some of the areas our business administration teams cover are:

Internal Support

We support central business areas such as HR, People Development, Learning and Development, Recruitment, Project Management, Procurement, Billing/Credit Control and MI/Data.

Client Onboarding

We conduct research, due diligence, and identity checks on individuals and entities to ensure regulatory compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) policies. We also carry out conflicts of interest checks on both national and international clients.

We’re looking for bright and ambitious minds with:

  • Alignment with BDO’s values and culture, demonstrating integrity, respect, and collaboration: Be Bold, Be Responsible, Be Collaborative and Be Genuine.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience and expertise in your sector, with a track record of success.
  • Advanced IT skills, with proficiency in MS Office products.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on delivering excellence.
  • Strong ability to collaborate in a team environment and work remotely when needed.
  • Work seamlessly with colleagues across different departments and locations. Effective teamwork is essential for navigating our dynamic workplace.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with colleagues to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Proactive and solution oriented ‘Can Do’ attitude.
  • Professional presentation with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.

  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training. Take ownership of your own development and career path.
  • Ability to think creatively and propose innovative solutions to challenges.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining high standards with a strong focus on client centricity.
  • Ability and proven experience in building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Be comfortable with change and able to adjust your approach as needed. This includes being open to new ideas and willing to pivot when necessary.
  • Embrace new technologies and methodologies. Being innovative allows you to improve processes and be considerate of efficient practices.
  • Play an active role in and promote a culture of excellence and quality within the team.

You’ll be able to be yourself; we’ll recognise and value you for who you are and celebrate and reward your contributions to our business. We’re committed to agile working, and we offer everyone the opportunity to work in ways that suit them, their teams, and the task at hand.
