Overview:

The firm is looking to recruit an Associate Team Leader, who will join the Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) team within BDO’s Shared Service Centre (SSC) Internal Compliance Area, based in Liverpool City Centre. This will be a challenging and rewarding role where you will be involved in the administration of the firm’s Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, and on-line management systems (Including CTO2).

The Role:

These will be the requirements of the role and where you will specifically be involved:

  • Review and confirm that all appropriate client due diligence has been carried out prior to approving the opening of a new project code on the firm’s financial systems, escalating more complex matters to the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Economic Crime Team as appropriate.
  • KYC/CTO2 Champion - Share knowledge and expertise, support and develop your colleagues and direct reports.
  • Deal with internal queries from Client and SDD/EDD teams on the firm’s KYC Guidance and how this should be applied in particular situations.
  • Line management of up to 8 direct reports and the overseeing of Performance Objectives, individual one to one’s, quality and productivity scores. Dealing with line management queries and undertaking line management actions.
  • Workflow and Workforce planning – Identify, implement and maintain robust planning of the Review hub workflow and available workforce, by aligning ourselves closely with the Workflow hub, ensuring the Review hub is adhering to and meeting all requirements as set out to us by the SSC management team and wider BDO business.
  • SLA (Service Level Agreements) – Ensure a consistent delivery of all SLA managed activity is maintained in-line with agreed processes and timelines, with timely updates provided.
  • Ad-hoc projects – Support with scope, taking ownership and delivery of projects for the team, as requested by the Review Hub Lead and Economic Crime team.
  • Carry out hub-based quality assurance checking of junior team member’s work.
  • Provide support to the firm’s Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Economic Crime Team.

Administration support:

  • Checking all appropriate client due diligence has been carried out prior to authorising the opening of a new project code on the firm’s On-Boarding systems.
  • Support the SSC Review and EDD Hub Leads with essential and ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and the Economic Crime Team to stay well informed on KYC/AML research, change in regulations and techniques.
  • Under-performance – At individual and hub levels, to be addressed in-line with team/SSC and BDO processes. Ownership of under-performance to be managed as a Line Manager.

Coaching:

  • Collaborate with SSC Assistants, Senior Assistants and colleagues on regulatory and business process changes/implementation, ensuring a consistent and successful implementation.
  • Provide regular and ad hoc updates to the Review hub ensuring knowledge across the team is current, complete and consistently delivered.
  • Delivery of BDO’s Achieving My Potential, Performance Development and Mandatory Training agenda with direct reports and across the Review hub.
  • Career Development – Promote best practise and support direct reports/colleagues across the Review hub and Compliance Area, promoting the BDO AMP model and how this links to Performance Objectives overall.
  • Demonstrate and lead promotion of best practice.

Technical requirements and professional skills:

Essential:

  • Experience of line managing a minimum of 5 direct reports, with experience dealing with performance development.
  • An awareness of and demonstrable interest in KYC Review / Onboarding.
  • IT skills - strong working knowledge of MS Office including Access, Outlook, Powerpoint, Internet research.
  • Well presented with a professional level of communication – both verbal and written.
  • Good time management, organisation skills and the ability to prioritise.
  • Ability to use own initiative and take a flexible approach.
  • Good telephone manner.

Desirable:

  • Experience of KYC Review / Onboarding.
