You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

After a comprehensive induction and welcome to BDO you will follow with office-based training in a friendly, collaborative environment. You will be fully supported by managers and team members in helping you to succeed. This role is office based 5 days per week.

As Facilities Team Leader, you will ensure our office complies with Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) standards and security protocols. You will conduct daily floor walks, monthly fire risk assessments, and first aid box audits. You will maintain first aid and fire warden records, ensure DSE assessments are followed up, and keep the office compliant with ISO14001:2015 and PAS2060 Carbon Neutral standards.

You will also manage office security by completing monthly access pass audits, ensuring secure storage, and conducting information security audits. Additionally, you will maintain the office environment by auditing local contracts, coordinating cleaning and maintenance, and liaising with the IT Department for equipment replacements and troubleshooting.

In this role, you will manage a small team of Facilities Assistants, conduct monthly one-to-one and career development discussions, perform appraisals, and support team development. You will oversee various service offerings within the team, including facilities, administration, post, printing, and archiving.

The Facilities Team Leader role includes activities and tasks such as:

Maintaining office HS&E compliance by:

  • Carrying out floor walks (daily) to check for loose cables/slip and trip hazards (bags left in walkways for example)
  • Monthly fire risk assessments and first aid box audits
  • Maintaining first aid and fire warden records including expiration date and arranging training
  • Ensuring DSE assessors are following up assessments promptly and closing out/escalating as required
  • Ensure the office is compliant with the ISO14001:2015 standard
  • Ensure the office maintains its PAS2060 Carbon Neutral status including regular updating of the Carbon Management Plan in line with set targets when requested.

Maintaining office security compliance by:

  • Completing access pass audits (monthly)
  • Ensuring cupboards etc are kept locked when not in use
  • Carrying out monthly information security audits (checking for screens left unlocked/paperwork left out)

Maintaining the office environment by:

  • Ensure local contracts are regularly audited to confirm compliance with SLA’s and agreed KPI’s
  • Ensure all office cleaning and maintenance, is carried out for the office working with local contractors and suppliers
  • On-site liaison for IT Department handling routine equipment replacing (monitors/cables/chargers) and troubleshooting and general queries on use of IT equipment or AV

People Management and service delivery:

  • Managing a small team of Facilities Assistants
  • Monthly 1-2-1 and career development discussions
  • Mid and full year appraisals
  • Developing your team and supporting career development goals
  • Manage a number of different service offerings within team, e.g. facilities, administration, post, printing & archiving

And requires:

  • Proven experience in facilities management or a similar role an advantage
  • Competent IT skills including knowledge of MS Office products
  • Well presented with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of using own initiative and taking a flexible approach when required
  • Strong communication skills including the confidence to interact with senior stakeholders from across the business and clients visiting the office
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and work with stakeholders to manage and resolve issues as they arise
  • Strong interpersonal skills including an empathetic and encouraging style to support colleagues and motivate their teams
  • Excellent time management, organisation and prioritisation skills, including being able to lead by example and influence optimal performance of team
  • Highly motivated to ensure delivery of excellent client service by SSC
  • Energised, enthusiastic and results orientated
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to use own initiative and take a flexible approach
  • Management experience of a small team
