You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. In this role you will assist and support the Southern Audit Leads in managing the financial performance of the work streams on strategic issues and on a day-to-day basis as well as providing relevant support, advice and guidance to the overall team within the business unit on financial matters. (Monthly travel to Southern offices expected). You’ll also:

• Regularly liaise with the central Finance function, overseeing the month end and year end processes reporting back to the Finance Director on performance and risks.
• Oversee the annual budget for the Southern region for the audit stream liaising with the stream heads and central Finance team as appropriate and overseeing the input of the data into the Firm’s budget model.
• Ensure bills, recoveries and cash collections are managed effectively and efficiently; challenging performance in these areas where required and agreeing appropriate action to take when issues arise.
• Promoting and monitoring of KPIs for Audit within the Southern region
• Leading the analysis of profitability to provide critical evaluation and drive consistency.
• Trend analysis with timely identification of causes of risks/ problems with prompt suggestion for relevant actions, particularly including revenue, recoverability, staff utilisation, work in progress, debt.
• Work closely with the South and National Finance team to improve reporting and management information and drive consistency within the sectors.
• Assist in the production and preparation of business plans and support the stream and SBU heads in identifying and developing strategy for the group and individual sub-streams; providing support in driving through these strategic decisions.

• Manage the Finance Analyst, providing opportunities for development and growth within the team.

You’ll be someone with:

• ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified
• A commercial mind
• Analytical skills
• The ability to handle/process confidential information in sensitive manner.
• Project Management, team leadership and delegation skills with a collaborative, participative approach and the ability to engage, inspire and influence people at all levels in the organisation.
• Strong leadership and influencing skills to enable proactive relationships with business leaders.
• Capable of contributing to the strategic agenda with strong operational skills
• Partnership experience desirable
