Overview

This is a exciting opportunity to provide contractual and risk management support within BDO’s International Institutions and Donor Assurance (IIDA) Department, which undertakes a range of engagements delivered to organisations funding and implementing international development and humanitarian aid projects. IIDA delivers engagements around the world, using personnel from a range of sources: London-based employees; overseas-based contractors; and BDO Network Office employees. IIDA clients are global, and they include

  • supranational entities such as the United Nations and the European Commission
  • national entities funding development projects, such as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Germany’s GIZ
  • international NGOs, private sector charitable foundations, and governments in partner countries

IIDA services are often delivered to clients in partnership with other suppliers. This role involves working side by side with partners and teams: reviewing and negotiating individual clauses in client, supplier and partner contracts and client imposed terms to mitigate the firm’s exposure to risk whilst bearing in mind the commercial environment in which the team operates.

You'll be someone with:

  • Legal or contract management background (preferable in an accounting, corporate finance or professional services environment)
  • An interest in the international public sector and/or international development sector
  • An ability to take a pragmatic and commercial approach to legal issues but also to recognise when issues need to be escalated centrally to ensure adequate mitigation of risk
  • Good project management skills and a desire to take ownership and responsibility of assigned tasks
  • A confident self-starter who contributes ideas and shares an interest in helping to grow the business and to grow with it
