Internal Communications Executive

We are looking for an Internal Communications (IC) Executive to deliver our IC programmes for our Audit and Tax Business Streams. Working as part of BDO’s Communications & Corporate Affairs team, you will work closely with the IC Stream Leads for Audit and Tax as well as the central team to co-ordinate any communications activity.

This role would support the communications delivery by sharing content through channels including Intranet, Viva Engage (previously known as Yammer), Poppulo newsletters, Stream videos and various events. We would train and coach the individual in our BDO Communications approach and how to use our IC channels.

The role will report to the Head of Internal Communications for Audit.

We’ll help you succeed

The work we do is underpinned by quality. We deliver audits which are trusted and transparent which can be relied upon by companies and their stakeholders.

You’ll be someone who is comfortable working pro-actively and, managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with Senior Managers, Directors, and BDO’s Partners. You’ll help deliver accurate and transparent reporting to all relevant stakeholders as you provide long term value. 

Responsibilities of the role are:

  • Work closely with each IC Stream Lead to drive the delivery of the stream IC programme to engage colleagues in Audit and Tax
  • Ensure that all stream communications align with the firm’s vision, strategy, and internal engagement
  • Plan, create and implement communications using our IC channels and consider the use of new, bespoke channels to have the best communication outcomes. This includes:
  • Write, edit and post intranet news stories and updates
  • Issue email newsletters and bulletins to Tax and Audit
  • Create email templates using Poppulo
  • Create and edit video content
  • Create and implement Viva Engage campaigns
  • Manage the plan for digital campaigns within various offices
  • Supporting with events for example townhalls, listening forums and panel discussions
  • Understand the impact of IC communications activity aligned with
  • Respond at speed to emerging communications needs as well as tactical demands and ensure key stakeholders are informed of activity, progress, challenges, and results
  • Build a network of key stakeholders across the team and firm and ensure they are informed of activity, progress, challenges, and results
  • Collate data and update our metrics dashboard on a regular basis. Analyse metrics and develop insights which feed into regular reporting
  • Be proactive and help share knowledge and best practice across stream teams and firmwide team
  • Be an ambassador for the IC team.

You'll be someone with:

  • Good written and verbal communications skills, with excellent copywriting, copy editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience of communications technologies and channels (for example, SharePoint, Viva Engage, Poppulo and Microsoft tools including PowerPoint)
  • A passion for high-quality, effective and creative communications that drive behaviour change and/or educate the audience
  • An ability to put complex information into engaging copy for a variety of different audiences
  • Attention to detail, especially when juggling a high volume of work
  • Initiative in drafting first communications and starting new projects
  • A high standard of quality across all work and has high expectations of themselves and their team to deliver quality results
  • An adaptable to work across a number of projects simultaneously
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and curious to develop new or existing skills or learn about new (digital) channel opportunities
