At BDO, the Procurement function forms part of the wider Finance Department. The mission of Procurement is to support the business in the procurement of goods and services through a streamlined process that delivers best value to BDO from the goods and services procured. Procurement strategically work to help the business to establish, maintain, monitor and evaluate vendor relationships in order to reduce risks, increase vendor performance, drive greater levels of innovation and help to deliver competitive advantages to BDO.

You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working proactively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.

The Procurement Business Support Lead will play an important role in driving the strategic direction aligned with the Head of Procurement’s strategy, mission and vision. This role will provide training, engagement and communications to the business stakeholders including the 4 streams (Audit, Tax, Deals, Consulting & Risk), PMD areas such as IT, HR, Finance, Property & Facilities Management, Marketing and Quality & Risk.

In this role you'll:

  • Be responsible for supporting the Procurement team, to deliver training and ad-hoc buying channel support to the wider business.
  • Manage the Procurement operations assets ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate to the current procedures and processes.
  • Manage all our communication touchpoints e.g. Intranet and messaging boards.
  • Support the business end users with any queries in relation to the buying channels and navigating the Procurement policy.
  • Support the Procurement Senior Controller with managing reporting requirements, with a view of upskilling in reporting insights and data analysis.
  • Assist the Head of Procurement and Procurement Senior Controller to drive the continuous improvement agenda within the team.
  • Manage the system training to internal procurement and external BDO users, to ensure everyone is proficient in using our tech stack.
  • Support the Head of Procurement and Procurement Senior Controller with building and delivering our communications and engagement plan.
  • Support the Procurement Senior Controller, if necessary, with our systems development, by identifying areas of improvement and support with implementation plans.

You’ll be someone with:

  • A basic understanding of procurement or commercial work.
  • Able to understand new technology and requirements quickly.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted source of support.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel with a desire to grow this to at least intermediate and build on their data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills through multiple channels. E.g. written and verbal.
  • Ability to understand existing processes and learn to map these via tools such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Ability to understand and communicate policies and processes to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Confidence to present/communicate Procurement's vision and goals, acting as a source of knowledge and guidance.
